Clydebank and District Bowling Association The week five matches in the CDBA League were played on Friday, June 5. This week two of the games finished 14-0, two games finished 12-2 and the other game was close. Old Kilpatrick join Dalmuir at the top of the league after whitewashing Victoria Park whilst Dalmuir managed an 8-6 victory over Clydebank, despite losing the bonus points. Singer and Radnor Park are both getting into full flow now and are quietly climbing up the table. However, the result of the week award goes to Albion who defeated Yoker 12-2. There are only 15 points separating the top seven Clubs with only four weeks to be played. The full results from week five of the CDBA League are as follows: Albion 12 Yoker 2, Dalmuir 8 Clydebank 6, Old Kilpatrick 14 Victoria Park 0, Radnor Park 12 Yarrow 2, Singer 14 Scotstounhill 2. The league positions after five matches are as follows: 1= Dalmuir/Old Kilpatrick 50 points, 3. Singer 46 points, 4. Radnor Park 42 points, 5. Albion 38 points, 6. Yarrow 37 points, 7. Clydebank 35 points, 8. Yoker 28 points, 9= Scotstounhill/Victoria Park 12 points. There are some more cracking fixtures in Week 6. The week seven matches in the CDBA David Syme League were played on Monday, June 1. Clydebank appear to be unstoppable after beating nearest rivals Dalmuir and opening up a seven point gap at the top of the Senior League. Singer move into joint second after an away victory at Scotstounhill. The two bottom clubs, Victoria Park and Old Kilpatrick, fought out a 2-2 draw. The full results from the David Syme League Week 7 were: Yoker 1 Albion 3, Clydebank 3 Dalmuir 1, Victoria Park 2 Old Kilpatrick 2, Yarrow 3 Radnor Park 1 and Scotstounhill 1 Singer 3. The league placings after seven games are as follows: 1. Clydebank 26 points, 2= Singer/Dalmuir 19 points, 4= Yoker/Radnor Park 17 points, 6. Albion 14 points, 7. Yarrow 11 points, 8. Scotstounhill 7 points, 9. Victoria Park 6 points, 10. Old Kilpatrick 5 points. The David Syme week eight fixtures were due to be played on Monday, June 8. The matches were as follows: Albion v Victoria Park, Dalmuir v Yoker, Old Kilpatrick v Yarrow, Singer v Clydebank and Radnor Park v Scotstounhill. The following Week 9 fixtures will take place on Monday 15th June: Clydebank v Albion, Singer v Radnor Park, Yoker v Scotstounhill, Dalmuir v Old Kilpatrick and Victoria Park v Yarrow.

Clydebank and District Bowling Association won the inter district 5x4’s competition last Sunday. CDBA lost their first match 3-7 against Kirkintilloch District but beat Garelochead BA 6-4 in the second match. With Kirkintilloch winning their first two games, CDBA had to try to win their game and hope that Garelochead could overturn the leaders. Clydebank DBA managed an excellent 9-1 win over Dumbarton Associated Clubs and Garelochead defeated Kirkintilloch 6-4. This meant that CDBA lifted the trophy on a total of 19 games won to Kirkintilloch’s 17 games. The quarter finals of the CDBA A.J. Campbell singles competition were cancelled last Monday due to flooding and were due to be held at neutral venues on Monday, June 8.

Dumbartonshire Bowling Association The District Three Finals of the Dumbartonshire County Championships were played at Clydebank B.C on Tuesday, June 2. The Inter District Finals were due to take place on Tuesday, June 9 at 6.45pm. The two neutral venues being used were Old Kilpatrick and Eastfield.

Dumbartonshire East made the long journey to Sandhead B.C. in deepest Wigtownshire for their fifth match in the Scottish Cities and Counties Championships. They were up against joint leaders Wigtownshire in the South Section and although they acquitted themselves very well, the home team proved too strong in the end. The final score was Wigtownshire 119 DBA East 96. Unfortunately this result means that they can no longer qualify for the quarter final stage. The other results in the South Section were: Stewartry 120 Dumfriesshire 113, Renfrewshire South 94 Lanarkshire South 121, Glasgow East 88 Ayrshire South 123. Next week DBA East are at home to Renfrewshire South, the match taking place at Old Kilpatrick B.C at 2pm. In the West Section of the Andrew Hamilton Trophy Dumbartonshire West won their first match of the season at Rock B.C. In a game cut short by the wet conditions, DBA West defeated bottom team Argyll & Bute by 72-57. It was business as usual for Glasgow West who won their fifth match in succession. The score from Chryston B.C. was Lanarkshire West 102 Glasgow West 109. Glasgow West stay on 10 points with their nearest challengers 4 points adrift. The other West Section scores were as follows: Stirling County West 104 Renfrewshire West 130, Ayrshire North 119 Clackmannan & Kinross 126. The fixtures for Saturday 13th June are as follows: Renfrewshire West v DBA West (at Wellington Park B.C), Glasgow West v Ayrshire North (at Thornliebank B.C).

Bowls Scotland The Bowls Scotland National Championships District 11 Inter Area finals were held on Sunday, June 7. The matches were played at Eastfield B.C and Rock B.C Rock B.C.
