Section B: Triples – Clydebank 8 Yarrow 5, Singer 11 Radnor Park 7, Pairs – Radnor Park 6 Yarrow 5, Yoker 8 Old Kilpatrick 2,Yoker 8 Radnor Park 4, Victoria Park 9 Yarrow 8. The following Section A finals (competition semi-finals) will be played at Victoria Park this evening (Wednesday): Triples – Old Kilpatrick v Radnor Park, Pairs – Yarrow v Yoker, Singles – Clydebank v Dalmuir. The Section B finals (competition semi-finals) will also take place tonight, at Yarrow, and the line-up is as follows: Triples – Clydebank v Singer, Pairs – Radnor Park v Yoker, Singles – Yoker v Victoria Park. The Champion of Champion Finals will be held at Albion BC on Wednesday, March 25.

The Senior Short Carpet knockout competitions continued on Monday, March 9 with the round two ties in the Triples (Sections A and B). The results were as follows: Triples Section A – Radnor Park 9 Dalmuir 2, Clydebank 10 Yoker 8, Triples Section B – Clydebank 15 Old Kilpatrick 2, Albion 11 Radnor Park 2. The following semi-final (section final) triples ties were due to be played on Monday, March 16 at Victoria Park BC: Section A - Radnor Park v Clydebank, Section B - Clydebank v Albion. The Round One matches in the Senior Pairs and Senior Singles were played on Monday, March 9 with the following results: Pairs – Scotstounhill 7 Dalmuir 5, Old Kilpatrick 13 Clydebank 2, Yoker 15 Singer 2, Albion 10 Victoria Park 3, Senior Singles – Singer 7 Scotstounhill 6, Old Kilpatrick beat Clydebank, Dalmuir 9 Radnor Park 7, Yoker 12 Victoria Park 2. The semi-finals ties, due to be played on Monday 16th March, were as follows: Senior Pairs - Scotstounhill v Old Kilpatrick at Singer, Yoker v Albion at Dalmuir, Senior Singles – Singer v Old Kilpatrick at Dalmuir, Dalmuir v Yoker at Singer. The CDBA Champion of Champions Senior Short Carpet Finals will be held at Albion BC on Monday, March 23.

The final matches in the CDBA Dominoes League were played on Monday, March 8. Dalmuir had already been confirmed as winners the previous week and managed to lose their final match against bottom of the table Clydebank. In the other games played, Albion won at Singer and Victoria Park prevailed against Radnor Park A. The Week 21 results were as follows: Singer 6 Albion 9, Radnor Park A 5 Victoria Park 10, Dalmuir 5 Clydebank 10, Radnor Park B no match. The final league positions are as follows: 1. Dalmuir 24 points, 2. Albion/Victoria Park 22 points, 4. Radnor Park B 20 points, 5. Radnor Park B 18 points, 6. Singer 12 points, 7. Clydebank 10 points. The Dominoes Champion of Champions Finals were due to be held at Singer B.C. on Monday, March 16 and the results will be contained in next week’s column.

Scottish Indoor Bowling Association The quarter finals of the Ladies Scottish Cup were held at neutral venues on Saturday, March 14. The Whiteinch ladies team were in majestic form and had a convincing 98-62 victory over Glasgow at Falkirk IBC. Whiteinch are now through to the semi-finals where they will play at Cumbernauld IBC against Auchinleck. The other semi-final is Aberdeen v Midlothian at East Fife IBC. The semi-final ties will be played on Saturday 21st March, with the final due on 4th April. The quarter finals of the Gents Scottish Cup will also be held on Saturday, March 21. The Senior Cup Final between Aberdeen and Coatbridge will take place today (Wednesday) at East Fife IBC. The Team Championship semi-finals will be held on Sunday, March 23.

The British Isles Indoor Bowling Association (BIIBC) and the corresponding ladies (BWIIBC) championships were played at Stanley IBC, Durham, from Monday 9 to Wednesday, March 11. The Whiteinch Senior Fours rink of Robert Clark, Peter Mason, Bill Adams and Jake Condy were up against favourites England in the semi-final. The seniors put up a great performance in an astonishing see-saw match which finished 18-18 after the requisite 17 ends of play. Unfortunately it was not to be as the Scots lost out at the deciding extra end. The England seniors went on to lift the trophy after a comfortable win over Ireland in the final. There were four Scottish titles won during the three days: Gents Junior Singles (won by John Fleming Jnr of Inverclyde), Ladies Junior Singles, Ladies Fours and Gents Pairs. Scotland were just pipped by England for the Gelding Trophy which is awarded for the most successful overall team. Scotland also finished runners-up to England in the Gents International series on Saturday 14th March.

Glasgow and District Bowls Association The quarter final matches in the GDIBA Gents knockout competitions were played at neutral venues on Sunday, March 8. The scores were as follows: Gents Singles (at Cumbernauld) – Whiteinch 21 Cumbernauld 17, Dumbarton 21 East Kilbride 20, Allander 21 Fintry 15, Blanyre beat West of Scotland (walkover), Gents Pairs (at Allander) – Allander 17 Clydebank 2, Coatbridge 19 East Kilbride 10, Blantyre 22 Whiteinch 18, Dumbarton 17 Fintry 11, Gents Triples (at Clydebank) – Allander 11 Fintry 10, Clydebank 18 Whiteinch 17 (after extra end), Dumbarton 16 West of Scotland 15 (after extra end), East Kilbride 18 Coatbridge 17, Gents Fours (at Blantyre) – East Kilbride 25 Whiteinch 9, Dumbarton 17 Allander 9, Blantyre 20 Clydebank 11, Coatbridge 19 Cumbernauld 10.

Bowls Scotland Congratulations to Dumbarton’s Kevin Anderson who is on his way back from the World Bowls Junior Championships, held on Australia’s Gold Coast, with two bronze medals. Kevin made his way through to the Gents Singles semi-finals where he was beaten by Izzat Dzulkeple of Malaysia. The gold was won by another Scottish bowler, Ryan Burnett, who beat the young Malaysian in the final. Kevin teamed up with Lesley Doig in the Mixed Pairs, where they both earned bronze medals.
