In the ladies Corinna had no problem in winning her group. She then got a bye to the semis where she faced Rhian Williams, again winning 3-0 without any trouble.

In the final she played Renee Ho, who Corinna had previously beaten in the group earlier that morning. Corinna was on and off the table within 10 minutes winning the match 3-0 and her first ladies title of the season.

In the men’s event, Xu Ruifeng again managed to win the event without dropping a set.

He won his group with ease before seeing off Scotland’s number three ranked man, Sean Doherty in the quarters, Niall Cameron, ranked five, in the semis and finally dispersing of Chris Wheeler ranked nine in the final.

Women’s British League At the weekend the women’s team from Drumchapel headed to Doncaster for Women’s British League. The team consisted of Lynda Flaws, Lucy Elliot and Emma Ludlow.

This was the second and final weekend of the season for Women’s British League, with the first weekend in September not going as well as the team was missing two of its vital players.

The girls were heading to Doncaster, to battle to stay in the first division.

They got off to a great start drawing 3-3 with the number one team in the division with Lynda Flaws winning two of her matches and Lucy one.

In the second match the girls had a chance to win but lost out to A.I.C.E.S on two matches going to the fifth game but not going the Drumchapel girl’s way.

In the last match on the first day the girls played Ulster and needed a win, which is exactly what they got winning 5-1 which put them on three points with the two teams above on four which meant they could still save relegation but would all come down to the Sunday’s matches.

On Sunday the Drum side needed to win their two matches and they had an excellent start winning 5-1 against Thorntons who ended up getting promoted to the Premier Division. They followed up by winning 5-1 against Bynghall who were bottom of the division.

All the girls needed was for Ulster to lose their match against A.I.C.E.S. But it wasn’t to be as Ulster managed to pull off a win which meant Drumchapel were relegated.

It was an unlucky weekend for the team and had they had their best team out for both weekends.

The club recently held an event to raise money for Pink Pong, a charity which raises money for cancer research through table tennis.

Drumchapel managed to raise £1182.80.
