FIVE years of hard training have paid off for Daniel Neilson, who has recently achieved black belt status in tae kwon do.

The Clydebank High pupil trains five nights a week at venues in Clydebank and Dumbarton. Daniel, now age 12, has been practicing his skills for five years under the tutelage of his instructor Michelle Haining.

Daniel told SportScene: “I have worked really hard to get a black belt but it has definitely been worth the effort.” It would appear that tae kwon do runs in the family as Daniel’s brother Frazer has earned a second dan black belt in the sport.
