CLYDEBANK & DISTRICT BOWLING ASSOCIATION The CDBA Presentation of Prizes was held on Friday, September 19 at Yarrow Bowling Club. Yarrow President Ricky McDougall handed over the club to the CDBA for the evening’s proceedings. CDBA President Frank Carrigan welcomed member clubs and invited guests and introduced the top table: George McCartney Snr (CDBA Hon. president), Denver Ballantyne (CDBA Hon. member), John Anderson (CDBA secretary), Willie Whittet (Singer Hon. president), Tommy Martin (Yarrow Hon. president), Bill Lamont (Yarrow secretary) and Donnie MacMillan (Bowls Scotland umpire).

DISTRICT CLUB NEWS Dalmuir B.C. held their annual Invitation Fours on Saturday, September 20. The competition was sponsored by Co-op Funeralcare who provided the new trophy as well as the prizes. The competition was won by the Albion Rink of Tommy Gillan, Kenny Webb, Paul Friel and Sinclair Sutherland who beat Ian MacLeod, Willie McIntyre, Scott Martin and George Griffin (Dalmuir) in a close final. The other section winners (losing semi-finalists) were Tam Paterson, Jim McIvor, Colin Duncan and Davie McIvor (Singer) and Willie Black, Eric Milne, Stuart Thomson and Allan Milne (Singer). There will be a few district greens occupied during the Glasgow September weekend. Albion hold the annual Alex Black competition, Clydebank are hosting their Fish Supper Day and Old Kilpatrick hold their Closing Day. Scotstounhill have an away friendly at Linthouse B.C.

SCOTTISH INDOOR BOWLING ASSOCIATION Whiteinch Indoor Bowling Club Gents will be participating in SIBA Division Two (West) this winter season. Their first league game will be held at home against Cowal I.B.C. on Saturday, September 27. Allander I.B.C. play in the same league and they kick off with a home match against Galleon I.B.C. The following Saturday, October 4 sees the initial stages of the National Indoor Gents Singles Championship. In the preliminary round Clydebank’s Hugh Sharpe takes on Turriff, Kevin Anderson of Dumbarton competes against Bainfield and Jimmy Young (Allander) plays Ardrossan. The Whiteinch Ladies team start their league campaign on the same day.
