CLYDEBANK’S Lucky Break snooker club has announced they managed to raise over £2,000 for good causes following the first ever Stephen Maguire roadshow.

Maguire, managed by Lucky Break owner John Rea, hosted a night of entertainment with proceeds going to Yorkhill Hospital, Guide Dogs and the St Margarets Hospice.

Rea told SportScene it is something he is looking to do once again: “I’ll definitely be doing it at our club twice a year for charity.

“It is for fantastic causes and I am delighted that we managed to raise as much as we did.” Meanwhile, Maguire has been competing at the other side of the world, winning the World Six Ball tournament in China — beating Englishman Ricky Walden in the final.

The victory sees Maguire qualifying for the Champion of Champions as he continues preparation for the upcoming Shanghai Masters.

Rea added: “We’ve just started together but it is a fantastic victory for Stephen.

“He needed that win and hopefully we can continue on the right track.”
