Cambuslang Rangers........2

Yoker Athletic...................1

WHE-HO boss John Brogan was livid when his defence lost a soft goal within five minutes for the third week in a row.

With Harry McLachlan, Sean Brady and Chris Wilson missing through injury the Yoker defence were taking time to settle. A simple cross was missed by four Yoker defenders to let Andy McFarlane tap in for the home side in the first attack of the game.

A few minutes later Yoker hit back when the keeper couldn't hold Gary Bissland's fierce shot. It was new singing from Arthurlie, Gary Arbuckle who was on hand to pounce on the rebound for the equaliser.

A minute later Arbuckle could have scored again but his shot hit the inside of the post and the home side cleared.

Ten minutes later Craig Winslow in the Whe-Ho goal made a fine save from Ferguson at the second attempt.

On the 20-minute mark the Whe-Ho defence were adamant that they had played Cambuslang striker Malone offside. However the referee allowed play on and the striker finished well. Brogan moved Jamie Carson into the middle and Gary Vickers to right back..

Both sides were making decent chances without being able to convert the final ball. Yoker went in at half time disappointed to be losing 2-1.In the second half the home side squandered a decent chance but Ferguson hit his shot wide.

Yoker were now pressing hard and were almost camped in the home side's half. Gary Arbuckle had a good effort saved in 65 minutes then Gary Bissland shot over the bar.

The introduction of James McLernon and Mark McManus turned the screw even further but Yoker could not convert the chances.

With Yoker pushing forward it was no surprise when Cambuslang had a great chance with a minute to go but Malone put it wide when he should have done better.

This was a terrific match which Yoker were disappointed to come away empty handed. Yoker will rue the soft early goals in the past three games and will feel they could have won all for openers in the league.

Brogan will demand that his team get that killer instinct when they face Benburb at home this Saturday, 2pm kick-off.
