Second-half goals from Ian Gold and Jamie Campbell made the difference against a dogged Petershill side who had Jordon Chisholm sent off late on.

‘Hill keeper Daniel McLeay kept Clydebank at bay with two fine stops from Derek Carcary and Kyle Cumming in the opening 10 minutes.

Bankies should have had a penalty when Ross McCabe clipped Jordan Shelvey in the box but the referee wasn’t persuaded.

Mark Lamont could have opened for the visitors with a fierce drive that Robert Hamilton kept out with a brilliant one-handed stop.

Bankies lost Jordan Shelvey and Andy Paterson to injury in the first half but did well to adjust.

Campbell came on for Shelvey and trialist Derek McNab slotted in at right back, allowing Scott Walker to take up the sweeper’s berth vacated by Paterson.

When the opener came it as fully deserved.

Gold flicked home at the near post with the aid of a deflection from Jordan Kennedy after his well-timed run was picked out by Campbell with a low cross.

Clydebank pushed to extend the lead and Campbell and Cumming should have scored at the end of fine moves.

Campbell eventually got his goal when he netted at the back post from an inch-perfect cross from the alert Carcary.

Chisholm was sent off in the closing stages after picking up a second booking for a poor challenge on Joe Andrew.

Bankies travel to Barrhead on Saturday to face Arthurlie. Kick off is 1.45pm.
