Budgie McGhie made seven changes as he wielded the axe on his misfiring side.

The Bankies boss had looked on in despair last week, but he was determined there would be no repeat performance as Clydebank welcomed North Region minnows Lossiemouth to Holm Park.

In awful conditions Bankies netted seven times and could have scored even more had it not been for an inspired performance from United keeper Michael Miele.

United did well to hold out until just after the half-hour mark in the face of constant Bankies pressure which was as incessant as the rain Graeme Ramage opened the scoring when he made up for an earlier missed penalty to head home a Joe Andrew cross.

Three minutes later, Ian Gold turned his man in the box before sliding a low shot past keeper Miele who was the main reason it took Bankies so long to make the breakthrough.

Surface water began to gather on the Holm Park pitch but it didn’t stop Kyle Cumming marking his first start for the club with the goal of the match.

The winger skipped past a couple of challenges before curling a sweet left foot shot into the top corner.

Bankies had to replace Johnny Allan at the break after the midfielder picked up a knee injury.

Scott Walker came in and kept the Bankies engine room ticking over as they maintained their dominance.

Jamie Campbell rounded Miele to make it four after Joe Andrew flicked on a Steve Gardiner pass.

The chances kept coming and Ramage soon made it five with a powerful volley from close range.

McGhie replaced the hard-working Andrew with Jordan Shelvey who took just five minutes to get on the scoresheet by turning the ball home after good work from Ramage.

Bankies really should have added a few more goals in the closing stages.

They passed the ball well and created some good openings but were too wasteful in front of goal.

Three minutes from time, Campbell completed the rout with a deflected shot that wrong-footed Miele in goal.

Bankies certainly bounced back well from the Craigmark defeat and the home supporters gave their drenched team generous applause as they left the field.

But almost as loud as their acclaim for their own side was the appreciation the fans showed United keeper Miele for a brave and committed display that kept the score in single figures.

Clydebank head to Troon on Saturday as they return to league action.
