FORTRESS Holm Park is the target this season as Yoker look to have a successful campaign, according to boss John McAulay.

McAulay insists his side have the quality to compete in the league and must continue their dominance on their home patch if they are to have a good season.

He said: “We have always had a very strong record at home and long may it continue.

“We aim to win all our home games and if we can do that then that will give us a good opportunity to push up the table.

“Saturday will be our first game at Holm Park this season so hopefully we can get our home form up and running.” Yoker got their league season off to a fantastic start with a 2-0 win away to Thorniewood United on Saturday.

Goals from Greg Maitland and Gary Arbuckle were enough to seal the win at Robertson Park and McAulay told SportScene he was delighted with the display.

He added: “It was a good win and we got a fantastic response from the boys who were playing.

“It is nice to be able to say that we played some nice football and deserved the win.

“We managed to get a clean sheet and goals look to be coming from all over the park which is great to see.

“It is good that we don’t need to rely on any one player to score goals and that can only stand us in good stead.” McAulay’s side now look forward to welcoming Greenock to Holm Park on Saturday. Martin Campbell’s side fell 2-1 at home to Pollok at the weekend and McAulay admitted he is expecting a tough game.

He said: “We know it will be a difficult tie — it always is when we face them.

“But, confidence is high and you could see that in the dressing room after Saturday’s match.”
