CONGRATULATIONS: Despite gaining a point, Yoker were disappointed not to secure all three
JOHN Brogan's side were hoping to continue the good start to the season against Forth Wanderers after last week's opening win away to Larkhall Thistle.
After just 12 minutes it looked as the day was going to plan when a fine cross from Mark McManus was caught on the volley by in form striker Alistair Murray sending the Whe Ho into an early lead.
Brogan had to shuffle his team with Clark, McLernon, McKellar, McCreadie and Smith missing through injury.
Although Yoker had most of the first half possession they were finding it difficult to settle.
Both teams did have chances with King and Carson coming close for Yoker and at the other end forth had a good chance but it was cleared by stopper Ross Mathew.
Yoker continued to make chances in the second half and Harry McLachlan should have scored when clean through on the keeper but hit it over from the edge of the six yard box.
Yoker again cut through the Fourth defence and with the keeper off his line Mark McManus saw his shot headed of the line by the Forth defender.
Forth seemed to take heart from this and in one of the few attacks from them in the second half they scored after some loose marking in the Yoker defence.
Brogan brought on Vickers for Reilly and Nicolson for the injured King in an attempt to rescue the match.
With ten minutes to go and Yoker having most of the pressure they were awarded a free kick just outside the Forth box after a clumsy challenge on Murray.
The free kick was taken by Ross Mathew and he hammered it off the inside of the Forth post only to see it bounce clear.
This seemed to sum up Yoker's day and the game ended in a disappointing draw.
Other results on the day meant that although they had dropped two points Yoker sit second in the league behind St Roch's.
Yoker face a tough task next week away to Benburb who are likely to be in the hunt for promotion at the end of the season.
Team: Winslow, Dempsey, Mathew, Schoneville, Bissland, Carson, McLachlan, Reilly, Murray, King, McManus. Subs: Vickers (65) for Reilly, Nicolson (70) King.
