BUOYANT: John Brogan was impressed with what his troops produced at the weekend

YOKER boss John Brogan was delighted with his new-look side's performance in the East Kilbride tournament at the weekend, despite results not going their way.

The Holm Park side were edged out 2-1 against Super Premier League champions Beith, but should have taken the game to penalty kicks as they had a late goal wrongly disallowed.

They then took on Eddlewood for the runners-up spot on the Sunday but lost 1-0 to the amateur outfit.

But Brogan was not downhearted about the disappointing results as he believed the two games were the perfect warm-up for his side before their competitive action begins against Ashfield on August 4.

Brogan told Sport Scene: "It was excellent as we used a lot of players and learned a lot from both games.

"Everybody in general pleased me and I wasn't put off by the results. We played well against Beith.

"The players' fitness was excellent and overall pre-season has gone well for the team."

The Yoker boss hasn't ruled out adding to his squad, adding: "We are looking at a couple of players at the moment but we will weigh up the options and see what happens."

Yoker take on Vale of Leven tonight (Wednesday) at Millburn Park and then their first home game is on Saturday against Saltcoats Victoria (kick-off 2pm).
