West of Scotland Cup Final St Peter the Apostle.................. 6

Holyrood Secondary School................. 1

ST PETER the Apostle (SPTA) and Holyrood Secondary School came head-to-head for the under-13 West of Scotland Cup final.

In a rather one-sided affair the match broke the mould for cup finals which are normally nervous and tentative events.

St Peter the Apostle controlled the opening 10 minutes with Calum Campbell opening the scoring from a dangerous corner.

A second goal was converted soon after through a 25-yard strike from David Seagrave.

Holyrood momentarily came back into the match and threatened twice, but solid defending by Sam Gallagher and Liam Deane prevented the away side from scoring.

Just before half-time, Mikey Hopkins added a third to stretch the lead even further and knock the wind out of Holyrood's sails.

Soon after the break Calum Campbell scored his second and the team's fourth to put the result beyond a tiring Holyrood side. They did manage to ruin SPTA's clean sheet by scoring through a tremendous 30-yard free-kick which gave them a chance of getting back into the match.

Although straight from the resulting kick-off Holyrood were dead and buried when Nathan Gallagher ran up field and struck a great 30-yard shot to re-establish the four-goal advantage.

With the game well and truly over, SPTA continued to control play and were again rewarded when Mikey Hopkins got his second goal minutes before the full-time whistle. It was a well-deserved victory for the SPTA boys who have worked so hard together, in their first year at the club. Man of the match: Liam Deane.

Team: Wright, Dooley, Campbell, S Gallagher, Deane, McLaren, Forrester, Ward, N Galagher, Seagrave, Hopkins, Cowan, Ewing, Chalmers, McKenna, Symington.
