STALWART Sinky Soutar said a fond farewell to Holm Park this week, but insisted the Bankies will soon become a dominant force in Junior football.

During his time with the club, Soutar has become the second-longest serving player at Clydebank, with six sensational years under his belt.

And Bankies fans are also saying goodbye to another favourite in John Jack

Soutar has had over 120 appearances since his debut, but the defender has decided to call time on his stint at Clydebank, which has seen him celebrate promotions and suffer the heartache of last year's Scottish Junior Cup defeat.

However, Soutar is adamant he is making the right choice and he has no doubt the Bankies can go from strength to strength under Budgie McGhie's leadership.

He told Sport Scene: "I'm pretty gutted about leaving. I had a wonderful six years at the club and had highs and lows in that time. My leg injury in my first season was my lowest point. But the fans, management and players were terrific.

"I thought long and hard about the decision and I knew that anywhere I go it was going to be a step down.

"I'm going to be thirty-two and I want to be playing more that I have been. It's disappointing to leave but it is the right thing to do.

"I can see the club getting better and becoming the main team in the west of Scotland.

"I will be back to support the team and I will remain friends with the players and Budgie."

Midfield maestro Jack decided to leave Clydebank this week after opting to retire from football.

He said: "I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Clydebank and I had a great two seasons there. We got to two finals and narrowly missed out on getting to another one this season so I can't have any complaints."
