Atlantis 0 Clydebank Rovers 1

CLYDEBANK Rovers secured their first ever piece of silverware with this CDL Cup final victory at Petershill Juniors park.

The Rovers were able to field a full strength squad, the first in many weeks, after Adens, Johnston and Toye all returned from injury.

McGougan, returning for the injured Burrows, Miller returning to his natural centre half position and Rovers anchorman Derek Doak clocked up his 39th game in a row this season for the club.

Atlantis started well and dominated most of the first half, passing the ball well and creating some good chances, but they were unable to find the back of the net.

In a nervy match neither team wanted to make a mistake so chances for both teams slowed down nearer the end of the first half.

In the second half Rovers came out of the traps much livelier and took the game to their opponents, forcing the Atlantis keeper into some great saves.

However, it was the 87th minute before the only goal of the game was clocked up which was from a well worked free-kick.

Set piece maestro Gary Pringle lifted the ball over the Atlantis defence from 35 yards out for Del Cunningham to rush behind and to slot it by the keeper to bring the cup home.

Rovers co-manager Bill Orr said: "This is a fantastic achievement for the club and the supporters, all the players have out done themselves proud this season and should be proud of their achievement - they fully deserve their success.

"Atlantis were unlucky as I feel they probably played the best football over the ninety minutes, but it shows great character and determination from our players to keep plodding away and playing right up till the final whistle."
