Scottish Amateur Cup Final

Eddlewood................... 1

Drumchapel United....... 0

DRUMCHAPEL United AFC prepared for this match with a light training session at Murray Park the day before the big final.

As the team made its way to the national stadium there was a relaxed atmosphere amongst the players.

Coach Jim Stewart took the warm up before manager John Black finally revealed his starting team to the players.

As the game got underway both teams showed some early nerves.

In the 13th minute a slack kick out by goalkeeper Scot Threlfall landed at the feet of Eddlewood's Jamie Dunbar who struck the ball at goal and his team mate was on hand to knock home the rebound.

Drumchapel United restarted the match and went in search of an equaliser.

The team immediately forced a corner and Alex Clearie forced a good save from the Eddlewood keeper.

Chances were few as the match reached half-time, with the only action of note being two bookings for Eddlewood and one for Drumchapel's Michael Kennedy. After the break Drumchapel showed more hunger to get the elusive goal they needed.

But it was Eddlewood who nearly got a second goal when a midfielder struck a shot from outside the penalty area, only to see Threlfall push it away for a corner.

The next chance fell to Drumchapel United's Gerry Christie as he latched on to a ball put across from William Nicholson.

But his attempt hit the side netting.

As time moved on Paul Wilson was introduced to the play and replaced Michael Kennedy, with Drumchapel reshuffling their formation to try to get back in the match.

Jamie Caldwell was introduced and Thomas Murray was withdrawn.

As the final whistle sounded and the Eddlewood squad began to celebrate, there were tears in the eyes of some of the Drum players.

Although scant consolation, the man of the match award went to Drumchapel United's David McKay.

A huge congratulations goes to Eddlewood AFC from everyone at Drumchapel United.
