Glasgow Ansar.............................. 1

United Clydebank Supporters AFC... 2

UNITED Clydebank Supporters Club won the first 11-a-side trophy in their history with a momentous win over first division Glasgow Ansar.

Bankies burst out the traps and made their first chance after only nine seconds when Lynch's shot was pushed away by the Ansar keeper.

The Glasgow side knew they were in a game as UCS made all the early running, making a couple of chances without troubling the Ansar defence.

But Bankies took the lead in the 19th minute when man of the match Jamie Ford won the ball from the Ansar defender before squaring for Gary Connolly to rifle home from 12 yards.

This gave Ansar a wake-up call and they tried in vain to breach a defence superbly marshalled by veteran Robertson.

The Bankies started the second half on the back foot, with Ansar looking to get back into the game as quickly as possible, but the Bankies' rearguard were keeping them out.

And Bankies went 2-0 up on 65 minutes when Tosh Edmonds was put through one-on-one with the keeper and finished with a great lob over the goalie.

The idea was to keep things tight but Ansar replied almost immediately with a close-range finish after the defence were unable to deal with the cross from the left.

Ansar were in the ascendancy and Joey Muir had an excellent save to keep the scores level.

As the game wore on some players were feeling the effects of the heat, and the effort they had put in, with cramp becoming a problem, leading to treatment being administered to a few players.

This, coupled with the time taken to retrieve the ball, meant a staggering seven minutes of added on time, but the Bankie boys managed to hold out to make UCS history.
