MCGHIE: TOUGH CUP TASK AHEAD
CLYDEBANK manager Budgie McGhie expects a tough test against Premier League basement boys Vale of Clyde on Saturday in the West of Scotland Cup.
The Vale have struggled this season and are rooted to the foot of the Super Premier League with only two points taken from 10 league matches.
While Clydebank are climbing up the first division table and have 19 points in 10 league matches.
McGhie is determined his side won't suffer any slip-ups on Saturday at Fullarton Park and insisted his side need to be on top form if they are to see off the Vale in the second round.
He said: "Vale of Clyde are in the league above us and it won't be easy even though they are at the bottom of the table.
"It is at their park which isn't an easy place to go. Even though they have had a bad season they still have some good players.
"The Vale will be disappointed with their points tally in the league but they will be looking for something to spark their season. The cup is their only chance of success so I have no doubt they will be looking for a win against us.
"I wouldn't be expecting an easy game, in fact I am expecting a very difficult match and so are the players."
Clydebank's West of Scotland Cup second round tie against Vale of Clyde kicks off at 2pm at Fullarton Park on Saturday.
THE future looks bright for Clydebank FC after three of the under-19 squad were selected for Scotland.
Andy Dunbar, Greg McGeachy, Robert Horton and Ross Hutchinson have been chosen to represent the national boys club side in a match against their Welsh counterparts, in Swansea on May 2.
The talented players all made their mark in the regional trials, when they starred for the south of Scotland under-19s in their 1-0 win over the north of Scotland.
Richard Wilson, Clydebank under-19s manager, also took charge of the south of Scotland side and is now excited at the prospect of the lads representing their country.
The boys will be awarded their international boys club caps at a civic reception at a later date.
Clydebank FC chairman Gordon Robertson said: "We are delighted for the four lads and wish them all the best for the match in Wales.
"We have had a few of the under 19s players at training with the main team and young Gavin MacQueen from the 19s has featured in our Scottish Cup squads. I am sure they will do the club proud in Wales."
They are also two boys on the reserve list and another three on stand-by.
Wilson would like to say a big thank you to all the boys who took part in the trials because they did themselves and the club proud.
