Greenock 1
Yoker 0
YOKER blew a golden opportunity to go top of the table on Saturday.
Despite dominating the majority of the match, the Whe Ho squandered countless chances with glaring misses from Carson and McManus.
And when Joe Gilmour popped up with a looping header over the despairing Yoker goalkeeper Ross Clark, early in the second half, it was always going to be difficult to get back into it.
Even when the visitors earned a penalty with just 10 minutes left on the clock, they could not take advantage.
The spot kick, which was awarded for a trip on McLernon, was skied well over the bar by the usually flawless Mark McManus - summing up the Whe Ho's day.
And as Yoker went in search of the equaliser, Greenock's Kenny McKay set up David McClure, but the sub missed the chance to put the issue beyond any doubt before the match entered six long minutes of stoppage time.
YOKER: Clark, Dempsey, Schoneville, McKellar, Vickers, Carson, Smith, McManus, Marshall, McLernon, King.
Subs: Bissland, Bain, McCreadie, Soave
