CLYDEBANK have kicked off 2010 by securing the signature of midfield maestro Scott Marshall.

The Bankies snapped up the 21-year-old on Monday night and boss Budgie McGhie reckons he will be a great asset to his side.

Marshall, who previously played for Cambuslang Rangers, attracted interest from Third Division outfit Stranraer, but he was delighted to sign for the Junior side to bolster their midfield.

And McGhie also revealed yesterday (Tuesday) that Marshall won't be the only new player coming to the Holm Park ground.

He said: "The midfield is always an area where you are better with more players and I think Scott will be a good addition to the squad.

"Scott was keen to sign for us and he has a good chance of making an impact in the team - just like any player.

"I would describe him as more of a creative midfielder than a ball-winner.

"He played against us in a friendly match a couple of season ago.

"He has been in the Juniors and he has also played for a couple of senior clubs.

"The paper work has still to be sorted out at Hampden, but I think that should be completed at the end of this week.

"We are still interested in other players and this signing will not affect us trying to get them."

Clydebank are due to play Glenafton on Saturday at Loch Park (kick-off at 1.45pm). McGhie admitted that the game, and a planned training session, are in doubt,

but thinks it could be a tough encounter for his side if the match is given the go ahead.

McGhie added: "The game against Glenafton on Saturday at this point looks doubtful with the bad weather.

"They have had a change of management with Mark Shanks replacing Derek

Ferguson so if the game is on I would be expecting a reaction from the Glenafton players. It is a tough one, but that will make it even tougher for us.Their form has been up and down this season but they are only a point above us in the league.

"We have had a couple of training sessions recently but we are limited at what

we can to do with the astroturf pitches off as well.

"All we can do is keep the players ticking over.

"They are usually active and in the gym regularly, which is what you would expect from professional footballers. The only positive you can really take from this period is to see if any of the injuries have improved."
