ALMOST 260 players from all over the world will converge on Glasgow's Kelvin Hall from November 18 to 22 for the 2009 Bank of Scotland International Badminton Championships.
BADMINTONscotland has teamed up with the Clydebank Post, Helensburgh Advertiser and Dumbarton Reporter to offer 15 lucky readers the chance to win a pair of season tickets, valid for the entire event, which culminates in a championships' finals weekend.
Players from 30 nations and five continents will take part in the third oldest championships in the badminton calendar, with Glasgow's Commonwealth bronze medallist Susan Egelstaff heading up a strong Scotland entry.
Scotland will provide a large entry as the home challengers in a bid to emulate the success of Edinburgh's Jillie Cooper who triumphed in the women's doubles competition last year. Among the international stars taking part are former men's singles champions Przemyslaw Wacha of Poland and Irwansyah, the Indonesian-born Welsh player.
The big threat to their ambitions will come from last month's Denmark Open runner-up Marc Zwiebler of Germany. In the women's singles England's Elizabeth Cann is back to bid for the title she won last year.
