YOKER Athletic recovered from going 2-0 down to salvage a 3-3 draw away to Cumbernauld United in Saturday’s league tie.

The Whe-Ho feared the worst when they lost a goal after 10 minutes when Kieron Brown netted.

Cumbernauld pressed home their advantage and went 2-0 up just before the half-hour mark through Ross Foley, but Yoker struck back before half-time through Andy Rankin.

In the second half the momentum was with the Holm Park side and they soon equalised through David Crerand in the 54th minute.

Steven Reilly’s men were on the brink of a superb fightback when three minutes later Shaun Kelly put them in front for the first time.

However, they couldn’t hold out as Alan Clark equalised for Cumbernauld with 15 minutes to spare.

The draw means Yoker are now without a win in four matches, but there were some positives for them as three of the four sides below them in the table all lost and bottom side Bellshill were without a league match.

It means Yoker have now moved two points clear of the drop zone but still remain just one place away from danger.

The Whe-Ho have an excellent chance to change that on Saturday when they welcome Blantyre Victoria to Holm Park – a win would leapfrog Yoker above the visitors.

But they will have to remedy a terrible run of form at Holm Park – Yoker haven’t registered any points at home since the opening day of the season.

Since an impressive 5-1 win over Kilwinning Rangers they lost their next four league games.
