Budgie McGhie’s side remain bottom of the Super League Premier Division with only one win all season and their future in the top flight looks far from certain.

While Shettleston sit in the division below, they are in second place having lost only two games all season and look set to gain promotion.

Campbell admits it will be a tough ask for Bankies to progress to the fifth round.

He told SportScene: “It will be a tough game for us, it will be a battle. Every game between now and the end of the season will be like that for us.

“A Scottish Cup run would be massive for the club, if we can get a run going it gives us a bit of confidence to take back to the league as well.” Few would have predicted Clydebank’s slump to the bottom of the league this year but the team has struggled to build on last year’s cup successes and a fourth placed league finish.

The departures of key men Ross McPherson, Vinny Berry and Ciaran McElroy to Queen’s Park left a big hole in the side. However Campbell insists that with youth in the squad, if they can keep the team together, next season the Bankies will be better placed to do well.

He said: “We have a relatively young squad, I think its maybe just a gelling process that might take a bit of time.

“There’s no doubt that there is a lot of really good players in the team. If your looking at the table you might not think that but if you come and watch us I think most people would wonder why we are not higher up in the table.”
