The Holm Park side ended a run of five successive league defeats with a 2-0 home victory over Ardeer on Saturday, goals from Steven Reilly and Darren Jones in the final 20 minutes sealing the points.

The win puts Yoker in ninth position in the table just two points off the relegation zone. However they are also only eight points off the promotion places in a congested league and with games in hand over most of their rivals McAulay’s men have it all to play for.

However their previous poor run coincided with a run of injuries and selection problems so McAulay knows his small squad will have to stay fit to give them a chance at promotion.

He said: “We have got a small squad so we need to keep everybody fit as often as we can.

“On Saturday we would’ve taken any result to end the run we had been on. But the way we played we thoroughly deserved our win and we probably should’ve won by more than the two.” McAulay is making plans to bulk up his squad as his side prepare to welcome Cumbernauld on Saturday. The number of additions he can make might prove crucial to Yoker’s season.

McAulay added: “We are starting to get players back from injury and we are looking to add one or two players to the squad. We are doing a bit of work just now to get some players in to help the boys we have just now.

“We’re looking for a midfielder and a defender. We have Michael Bailey back now, he’s been unavailable through work commitments so that gives us an extra defender.”
