Budgie McGhie’s men scored in the 91st minute to salvage a 1-1 draw at home to Arthurlie on Saturday but will be disappointed not to have won after playing more than half the game against 10 men.

The result leaves Clydebank rooted to the bottom of the Super League Premier Division without a win and with just two points from their first five games, but Walker thinks that results will pick up if Clydebank can solve their problems in front of goal.

He said: “That’s the kind of game we need to be looking to win. Something is missing at the moment but I think if we can get a few more goals things can turn around.

“In the first half I thought we edged it but when they got a man sent off, it became more difficult for us. They played with 10 men behind the ball and looked to hit us on the counter, they were hard to break down.

“In the end we had Robert Hamilton to thank for the point because he made a great save at the end.” Walker admits that confidence is low at the club right now despite Ian Gold’s equaliser on Saturday, but Clydebank now go on cup duty for the next two weekends which gives them an opportunity to get some confidence back if results are good.

Walker said: “It still felt like a defeat to be honest, even though we scored in the last minute, everyone was a bit down after the match. I think confidence is a bit low just now.

“Hopefully we can get a couple of decent results in the cup to give us a boost.”
