THE LAST two seasons have been something of a rollercoaster ride for new Clydebank signing Graeme Ramage, but the midfielder insists he is ready to prove himself to the Bankies faithful.

A promising start to his career at Annan Athletic was curtailed by a devastating cruciate ligament injury and before long the 22-year-old found himself on the football scrap heap.

A move last season to Super League rivals Arthurlie didn’t work out but that has only fired Ramage up to become a success under Budgie McGhie.

He told SportScene: “I was at Annan when I got the injury and the manager told me not to worry about out, I would get a new contract and he would look after me.

“However, when it came to the contracts getting handed out I was told I was being released.

“It was a massive kick when I was down and it left a really bad taste and I was basically left to my own devices.

“I never really got much game time at Arthurlie but I have now played more in the last six weeks than I did in the two years beforehand.

“I’m starting to enjoy my football once again, I’ve really enjoyed the game time and I just want to show people what I can do.” Ramage has featured throughout Bankies’ pre season before being handed his competitive debut with a 25 minute cameo against Maryhill on Saturday.

The former St Mirren youth player admitted he has been impressed with the squad that Budgie McGhie has assembled and draws inspiration from the Bankies who have turned pro over the past few seasons.

He added: “I like the way the team plays and I have been impressed the boys at the club.

“Training here is brilliant and that has been proven with the guys who have moved up the leagues.

“That is something I obviously would love to go back to at some point, I’m young and ambitious.” With the Sectional League Cup now underway Ramage revealed his targets for the season.

Bankies are attempting to defend last season’s title and he insisted the side have to be looking to build upon the success of previous seasons.

He said: “The club has won plenty over the last few years and you want to continue.

“On a personal level I am looking to get myself in the team and to be get playing on a regular basis once again, as well as chipping in with a few goals.”
