Another ‘off’ day We had yet another game off on Saturday when our home fixture against Kilbirnie was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and therefore it proved to be yet another frustrating Saturday. The rainfall this season must be close to an all-time high or maybe that is just how it seems.

At least we managed a run out last Tuesday when we lost 3-2 to an Albion Rovers XI in a friendly in Coatbridge. Cieron McElroy and Joe Andrew scored our goals in a decent workout that also saw young Reece Pearson miss a penalty for us during the second half.

Successful night On Saturday night I had an extremely enjoyable evening when attending the clubs 10th Annual Sportsman’s Dinner in the Clydebank and District Golf Club. The speakers Bill Copeland, Kenny Clark and George McNeil provided excellent entertainment and it was also good to see two former players Jimmy Caskie and Mark Treanor being inducted into the Clydebank FC Hall of Fame.

I always find it a special night as not only is it great for me to spend time amongst friends but it is usually a great night for catching up with numerous ex-team mates and former Bankies players from the past.

I’d like to thank everyone who attended and made contributions to this important night in the club’s calendar and also thank the golf club and their staff for hosting it.

But knowing the amount of effort and work that goes into organising and running such an event, I think a special “well done” must go to everyone involved with Clydebank FC responsible for ensuring it ran smoothly and therefore making it such a success.

Last Shott at cup success This Saturday we visit Hannah Park to play Shotts Bon Accord in the second round of the Central Cup. This is our only realistic remaining chance this season to add more silverware to the Sectional League Cup trophy that we won in September.

We don’t have a great record at this ground and when you also consider that Shotts are by all accounts a very useful side enjoying a decent season it all adds up to a difficult challenge.

However, as tricky as this game could be, having won this cup a couple of times in recent years which in both cases turned out to be very pleasant experiences, it would be good to advance to the latter stages once again and at least give ourselves the chance to get the club’s name on the trophy once again.
