CLYDEBANK boss Budgie McGhie is determined his side avoid a relegation scrap in 2012.

At the turn of the year Clydebank sit in 10th place in the Super League Premier Division with only Largs Thistle and Kilbirnie Ladeside below them.

However, Holm Park manager McGhie is focusing on the teams above them rather than those below and he hopes they can steer clear of a battle against the drop towards the end of the campaign.

He said: "The main issue in 2012 and for the rest of this season is to stay in the league and continue improving.

"We will also be looking to have a good go at the League Cup.

"We won it a couple of years ago so there is no reason we can't do well in it again."

McGhie is confident if they can stay in the Super Premier League this season, the Bankies can push up the table and is inspired by rivals Petershill who are now sitting pretty at the top of the league.

He added: "Next season we will be looking to add a couple of players at the right time and push up the league.

"Look at Petershill, they were struggling against relegation last year and are now top of the league.

"I don't see why next season we can't be up in the higher regions of the league."
