YOKER coach John McAuley admits Saturday's call-off against Glasgow Perthshire came at the worst time for his high-flyling side.

The Holm Park outfit were due to play the Central District First Division's top dogs but it has been postponed twice due to the poor weather. Perthshire, who haven't dropped a point so far this season, may be odds on favourites to take the spoils but McAuley fancies the Whe-Ho's chances after claiming three wins on the spin.

McAuley was gutted the game was scrapped this week and is praying it gets the go ahead this Saturday.

He told Sport Scene: "We have hit a good run of form and taken three straight wins. It is disappointing not to be playing at the moment because the boys have been on a good run.

"Playing Glasgow Perthshire will be a tough test but it is one were a looking forward to.

"We want to get the game on before the end of the year because that will probably be our last game of the year. Hopefully it goes ahead and we can go into the new year with that fourth win."

After a shaky start, Yoker have shot up to fifth in the division and the Yoker coach has been delighted with their improved performances.

He said: "At the start of the season we definitely have taken fifth place going into the Christmas period.

"It has taken us time to settle into the league. But if you look at the earlier results, we weren't taking three or four nil defeats."

Yoker's clash with Glasgow Perthshire kicks off at 1.45pm at Holm Park on Saturday.
