Yoker's Mark of quality in cup
THRILLED John Brogan watched his Yoker hot shots give 10-man Craigmark SIX of the best after a one-sided Emirates Junior Scottish Cup first-round tie at Holm Park.
After a misfiring start the defence, midfield and frontmen all got on the scoresheet while the visitors' Dean Neil walked for his second yellow late on.
And the Whe-Ho now have a mouthwatering clash with Cambuslang Rangers on October 29 after they were both picked out of the hat in Sunday's second-round draw.
The gaffer told Sport Scene: "It could have been more as we played really well today considering that we had to make a few changes.
"I thought we would get there eventually and I was quite confident and it was good to have a shut out - it was our first shut out of the season.
"And as much as we scored six we had a couple of good chances and a few good saves and I am really pleased with that.
"To our boys that came in I thought Mark Maxwell was outstanding and Scott McFarlane was great.
"The front two of Daryl Boyd and Gary Arbuckle were tremendous, linking up well and their overall play was a bit of quality.
"Daryl was up front and he was dropping off and he was excellent. I thought him and Gary Arbuckle were different class and some of the football was great. It was very good and I am very pleased."
Yoker blazed out of the traps and piled on the pressure and despite missing several sitters Arbuckle eventually netted on 38 minutes.
Moments later Boyd added a second after drilling home Stephen Wedlock's short free-kick and in the second half sub Mark McManus poached the third on 64 minutes.
Boyd turned from scorer to provider with his cute flick allowing McFarlane to bundle home from close range on 75 minutes.
Craigmark's Neil took the long walk for clipping Boyd on 78 minutes and 60 seconds later Neil Schoneville nodded home a McManus corner for the fifth.
Late on Maxwell went on a solo run and rounded off the scoring with a deft finish beyond keeper Ian Bradford.
Weather permitting, Yoker's next match is the West of Scotland Cup first round tie away to Darvel Juniors at Recreation Park, kick-off 2pm.
