BUDDING Bankies keeper Liam Campbell has vowed to snatch the number one jersey away from long-time stopper Stefan Gonet.
He joined the Holm Park side at the tail-end of last season's long campaign from Drumchapel under-21s after impressing Clydebank boss Budgie McGhie in a friendly.
Campbell insists he has the utmost respect for his goalkeeping rival and has learned a lot from him since he came to Holm Park.
But that hasn't stopped Campbell's determination to become Clydebank's main man between the sticks.
He said: "I played half a season at Drumchapel and things didn't go too well there but my goalkeeping coach set up a friendly with Clydebank.
"Budgie McGhie watched me and said he wanted to sign me for Clydebank.
"The camaraderie between the players made me feel part of the team as soon as I stepped through the door.
"Stefan is a great guy and a good keeper. I came in to Clydebank for the last 25 games and I was involved in seven of them.
"But I have learned a lot just by watching him play, from his strong points and his weaknesses. But he knows I'm not going to sit on the bench.
"I am going for that number one spot. He has got eight years experience over me but I know the opportunity to take the number one jersey will come next season."
