MANAGER: Budgie McGhee
CLYDEBANK may feel aggrieved to have their league season postponed for a week after their opening First Division clash with Dalry Thistle fell foul to elements at the weekend.
But despite the disappointment of Saturday's lay-off, gaffer Budgie McGhie ensured his side will be ready for their belated curtain raiser with a friendly against amateur side Drumchapel United on Monday night.
Stefan Gonet's route-one kick-out sent Charlie Hobbs through on goal and he coolly beat the oncoming Drumchapel keeper in the 25th minute.
John Jack scored 10 minutes later when he picked up the ball 25 yards from goal before drilling home a low drive.
Hobbs caused a lot problems up front for the Bankies as did his strike partner Andy Selkirk who made subtle contributions in his side's attack.
New signing John Harvey also made his first appearance for Clydebank after his recent move from Premier League side, Vale of Clyde.
Although left to lament the loss of the Dalry fixture, Bankies boss McGhie was pleased with his side's extended preparations.
He said: "It's disappointing obviously, but with the way the climate is just now it's really not a big surprise.
"We know we need to play every game anyway so we're not too bothered where we start, but it would nice to start the season with a home win.
"I would have rather the game went ahead on Saturday but luckily we had the game against Drumchapel arranged, so we could get a bit of match fitness in for the boys.
"It was a good work out for us, - they're one of the top amateur teams."
Whitletts Victoria arrive at Holm Park on league duty this Saturday.
The Vics may prove a test for the Bankies after their win over Girvan. Kick off is Saturday at 2pm.
