CLYDEBANK FC have joined forces with the biggest youth football club in the town - Clydebank Boys FC.

Around 180 young players from U8 to U19 level are now part of the ambitious Holm Park club. The move has delighted officials who believe the relationship will benefit all concerned.

Bankies chairman Gordon Robertson said: 'This is a great move for both Clydebank FC and the Boys Club. I am hugely impressed by their set-up and the commitment of their coaches and officials.

'From the club"s point of view we see it as an ideal opportunity to encourage youth football and enhance our own standing in the game.'

Already some of the youth players from the U17 and U19 team have been involved in Clydebank FC training sessions.

Three players were on the bench for a friendly against Rutherglen Glencairn and that will continue, with the senior Boys Club players given every opportunity to progress to play for the Bankies.

Boys club officials were equally enthusiastic about the link with last season"s Scottish Junior Cup finalists.

Club president Richard Wilson said: 'We are delighted to become part of Clydebank FC. A result of the merger of the town"s clubs means that the boys club can provide a pathway for kids starting out in the game right through to Junior football level.

'The management, coaching teams and players of Cydebank Boys FC are delighted to be a big part of the Bankies future.

'All the youth teams will be proud to be wearing the Bankies strip. This move can only be good for the town"s football at all levels.'
