Knightswood Secondary School’s under-16 team completed an unbeaten league season and cup double this month, beating St Peter the Apostle 1-0 in the League final last week.

In 17 games played in both competitions this season, the team has won 15 and drawn two.

The boys kept clean sheets in both finals, scoring over 50 goals during the campaign, 10 years on since Knightswood Secondary won the Scottish Schools Shield.

Knightswood secured the GSFA Cup after overcoming Bannerman, Stonelaw, Bishopbriggs and St Andrews.

In the final at Our Lady Loretto on May 6, Knightswood beat rivals St Thomas Aquinas 2-0 thanks to goals from Aidan Chisholm and Kyle Munro.

After finishing top in both group stages in the GSFA League, Knightswood progressed to the finals after beating Holyrood and St Thomas Aquinas on penalties in the semi-final.

They secured a 1-0 win in the final in extra time. after putting in a battling performance, the winning goal came with five minutes to go.

Standout contributors to Knightswood’s amazing season include Steven Collins, who captained the side and finished the top goalscorer for the side with 18 goals in 20 games. Collins, as well as James Holt, also played in every minute of every game this season.

Goalkeeper Connor Simpson pulled off two penalty saves in the semi-final shootout against St Aquinas, and one against St Andrews in the cup semi-final.

S3 pupils Dylan Cameron, Aidan Chisholm and Callum McKeown played 15 or more games despite being a year younger than most opponents.

There will be a School’s sports awards ceremony held at Knightswood Secondary School on Tuesday, June 13, where the campaign will be celebrated, and individual player awards dished out.
