ANTONINE kept their cup dreams alive with a 4-2 League Cup semi-final win over Oban Saints at Duntocher recently.

Antonine started on front foot and opened the scoring within three minutes. A through ball was flicked on by Owen Gallacher and Adam Boyle slotted past the keeper to open the scoring.

On nine minutes a Gallacher corner fell to Dean Miller and the defender volleyed home from 15 yards. Joe McKendrick then slipped in top scorer Boyle to fire home to make it 3-0. Boyle, Gallacher and Danny Hamilton all came close as Antonine looked to kill the game off.

On the 30 minute mark a mix up in the Antonine defence allowed the Oban striker to roll the ball into the empty net. Five minutes later the deficit was reduced again as Antonine failed to clear their lines and the ball was fired home at the back post.

Half-time 3-2.

Antonine were still in control of the game but had to be wary of Oban on the break. Boyle had an effort saved by the keeper. Gallacher and Hamilton both came close as the fourth goal didn'’t come. Joe Mckendrick had an effort cleared off the line and Calum Maxwell’s 25 yard drive was touched over and the same player had a 20 yard free kick come back off the bar.

With the last kick of the ball Maxwell squared for Danny Hamilton to fire home.
