The 19-year old comes to the Bankies with a good pedigree having been at Dundee United, Queen’s Park and Morton. He had a week long trial with Swedish outfit Syrianska FC recently, the club indicated they would like to have him back over but as yet nothing has come of their interest.

Verlaque has an understanding with Clydebank that should a move abroad come to fruition that the club will tear up his contract.

Verlaque told SportScene: “I had been training with the team and Budgie said he would like to keep me until the end of the season, I jumped at the chance because it’s a great opportunity for me to get games at a good level.

“If anything I thought I was going to go abroad but nothing has materialised yet. It has been a difficult year for me, moving about clubs so I’m pleased to have the chance to get back playing.” Verlaque’s versatility could be crucial for McGhie during the second half of the season as the Bankies look to avoid relegation from the Premier League. Verlaque’s favoured position is right full back but he is also comfortable in midfield or at centre back.

The challenge of playing at junior level is one which the youngster is relishing.

He said: “I’ve only been at the club a couple of weeks and the guys have been great during that time. I know it’s a club steeped in history.

“It will be different playing junior, it can be a lot better, at times you have to think quicker so it’ll help me develop.

“Three Clydebank players were signed by Queen’s Park in the summer so that shows how good a level it is.” The 19-year old comes to the Bankies with a good pedigree having been at Dundee United, Queen’s Park and Morton.
