Fallon is Clydebank’s record appearance holder having represented the club 766 times — he was one of the first two names inducted in the Bankies’ hall of fame, alongside Cooper.

The memories of his first meeting with Coop, nearly 41 years ago when the winger was only 19, are still vivid for Fallon.

He said: “My first memory of him was we were training on red ash and none of us could get the ball off him. Three or four of us went to Bill Munro after that training session to try and get him to sign Davie.

“He was just amazing. Once he had the ball he was always going to do something with it. Most players have good and bad games, Cooper rarely had an iffy game and he had a left foot to die for.” Fallon spent an incredible 18 seasons playing at Clydebank and he believes Cooper to be the best he played with during his long career. Having played against the cream of Scottish football in his era — Fallon also insists the legendary wingman ranks with the best of those he has faced also.

He added: “Playing with he was number one, the best. With the players I have played against he is up there with the likes of Kenny Dalglish and Danny McGrain, he was that good.”
