Striker David Crerand had put Yoker in the lead but late strikes from Jonny Boal and Jordan Dalzell ensured the away side took the three points.

From the start, the match was evenly matched. The first shot of the tie came 25 minutes in and fell the way of Yoker with Greg Maitland dragging a shot wide from the edge of the box.

Whe Ho then had a strong shout for a penalty which was denied by the officials. It seemed a valid claim when David Crerand was dragged down to the floor in the box but the appeals were waved away, much to the anger of the Yoker bench.

The next chance fell to Rutherglen, a free kick was launched into the box which was brought down by Denis McLaughlin, the striker then attempted a spectacular overhead kick but the ball sailed over the bar.

That was to be the last action of a tight first half.

The first chance of the second half fell to Rutherglen. Jonny Boal picked the ball up 30 yards from goal, he turned and cracked a shot, his effort looked bound for the top corner but it just crept wide of the left hand post.

Yoker responded by taking the lead minutes later. Jamie Carson played the ball down the line to Maitland who provided an excellent cross for Crerand who tapped the ball past the keeper.

Rutherglen struck back immediately through Boal. A corner was played in and the striker was left unmarked in the box, he managed to bring the ball down and shoot, his shot was deflected past Craig Winslow in goal.

The final act of the game would be decisive. Yoker had been struggling to defend crosses throughout the match and they were punished in the last minute. Full back Graeme Brown played the ball into the box, his cross found Jordan Dalzell who finished with ease into the bottom corner.

Yoker now sit in 12th place but have a few games in hand over the teams above them. Whe Ho will need to improve ahead of their Scottish Cup quarter final against Linlithgow Rose at Holm Park on Saturday.
