The sides met in November at Holm Park with Shotts notching a 2-0 win — both goals coming from set-piece situations.

McGhie is fully aware of Shotts’ strength in that area, which is more of a worry given Bankies’ achilles heel for much of the season has been their defending of cross balls and set-pieces.

The Bankies boss told SportScene: “Hannah Park is never an easy place to go, it is quite exposed, generally the games there are affected by the wind even on a relatively calm day.

“They are dangerous from set-pieces and at Holm Park that’s where the two goals came from. All season we have been very erratic with our defending of situations like that so there are enough warning signals for us there for us not to think it will be an easy three points.” Although their crunch tie with Kilbirnie Ladeside was postponed on Saturday, other results went for McGhie’s side with relegation rivals Shotts and Cumnock both losing. Clydebank can move off the bottom of the table and above Shotts with a win on Saturday and Bankies fans will be hoping Scott Davidson can continue his goalscoring form — the former Annan striker has scored three goals in his first two games for the club and his manager has been pleased with his new signings’ start.

He said: “Three goals in two games tells its own story, obviously we would love for Scott to continue that form but at the same time we don’t want to put too much pressure on him, it’s up to others as well.

“I’m happy for Scott, he is a good player, he has a bit of everything in his game. He takes up good positions which helps out others who are trying to pick him out.” Meanwhile Bankies frontline will be depleted with the news that Joe Andrew has moved to Glenafton, McGhie explains that Andrew wanted to start more games.

He said: “Joe was transferred to Glenafton last week. He felt he wanted to start games more regularly so we wish him all the best and thank him for his efforts at the club.”
