Dynamite Gymnastics Club enjoyed a memorable week in Dornburn, Austria last week where they formed part of the Great British team taking part in the 2019 World Gymnaestrada.
Held every four years in different host countries, the World Gymnaestrada, the largest global gymnastics gathering in the world, welcomes 23,000 gymnasts from 60 countries to the non-competitive, week-long festival.
The Clydebank-based club travelled with 24 gymnasts and four coaches to take part in the tightly-packed schedule of events, including performances of their own individual routine, a Great British mass display and as part of the world’s mass team.

The world mass display saw 1,000 gymnasts, aged from seven to 92 and from all over the world, performing together. With time for just one rehearsal, it was a great experience for the Dyna girls to take in the different styles and cultures while creating one performance.
In addition to the performances, the Dyna team also had the opportunity to march behind the Great Britain flag in the opening and closing ceremonies.
Dynamite Display Team coach Claire Devitt said: “The gymnasts, coaches and parents put in a lot of work during the build up to the event, from perfecting routines to raising the money which allowed us to attend.
“Seeing the gymnasts perform to packed audiences and meeting people from all over the world who all share a common passion for the sport, the hard work was all worth it.”
