There was medal success for a number of fighters from Clydebank-based club Kokusai Karate at the BKF British International Open Karate Championship in Edinburgh last weekend.

Adam Richards won gold for 7-9 years kata to become British International Open champion and Aeron Greenland secured silver in the 13 years kata category.

Stuart Mungall also won silver in Vets kata and Heather McLaren fought her way to silver in 61kg seniors kumite.

Under the coaching of European judge and referee Billy Haggerty, Kokusai Karate has a history of producing quality athletes with many of its members holding National titles.

Recently the club held a successful seminar with World Games Champion and French national squad member, Sandy Scordo.

All who participated in the seminar gained valuable knowledge and experience from this world class athlete and continue to strive to improve their performances.
