Yoker Athletic have signed Danny MacKinnon after he was released by Clydebank.

Whe-Ho manager Steven Reilly has moved quickly to add to his team following relegation to the Central District First Division.

With eight players now signed up, he will speak to the remaining squad members this week as he looks to build his team for next season.

He said: “We’re going to speak to James Ross, Greg Maitland, David Crerand, Liam Campbell and Gary Arbuckle in the coming days and the five of them will hopefully be signed up by the end of the week.

“I know these guys might have interest from elsewhere which is fair enough, stepping down a league wasn’t what we wanted to do and these guys might not want to drop down as well.

“But I think I can convince them to stay as the bulk of the team have decided that they want to stay with Yoker and I think playing with a team that can push for promotion will be good for them.”

One player that won’t be re-signing is Mark McManus, with the midfielder moving on to get more game time.

Reilly added: “He wants to continue playing, and Mark has been a great servant to the club.

“I wanted him to stay at the club but with his work commitments and other guys wanting to play in that area in the left with Greg Maitland there.

“He wants to play, he’s been helping with the coaching side of things but he thinks he can still play for another couple of seasons he’s moved on unfortunately.

“I want to try and get four or five new additions to the squad, and go forward with a squad of 19-20 players.”
