CLYDEBANK FC were left shellshocked by a moment of magic from Maryhill's Gavin Stokes on Saturday as the striker netted an audacious effort straight from the first whistle.
As the action got under way in the Super League First Division tie at Lochburn Park, the crowd was left stunned as Stokes tried his luck from the kick-off and his sensational strike flew passed the helpless Josh Lumsden in the Clydebank goal.
The Bankies couldn't recover as Maryhill ran out 3-0 winners.
The goal is timed at under three seconds. The time is yet to be verified but the previous fastest goal in British football was scored by Marc Burrows for Cowes Sports reserves against Eastleigh reserves in a Wessex League first division match in 2004.
Serbian youngster Vuk Bakic scored inside two seconds with the first kick of the match for GSP Polet against Dorcol in the Serbian second division in 2012.
