DUNTOCHER professional golfer John Henry is looking to end his season on a high in Portugal at the Invitational Pro-Am tournament.
Henry finished the EuroPro Tour season on Friday, October 21, with a 49th-place finish in the Desert Springs Course in Almeria.
The result meant that Henry finished 28th overall in the Tour, and has secured his Tour card for the next season, which is due to begin in April next year.
He said: “In Spain I just wasn’t hitting the ball very good from tee to green and I was in the desert quite a lot, so I was either chipping out sideways or hitting shots out on to the green from there, which proved difficult. I’ve played in terrain like that out in Egypt but I wasn’t in the desert as much that time.
“I got some practice in but I was just hitting it poor. I was back out with the coach last week so I’m hitting it a little bit better now.”
The Invitational Pro-Am begins on Thursday this week and finishes on Saturday. The total prize pot for the event is £40,000, with the winner of the tournament picking up £6,000.
