June was another successful month for Clydesdale Harriers.

Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games were held this year on the June 11 and four Harriers were entered into this years 10k race.

First home was Ann Murray in a time of 45:46 followed closely by Hugh Laverty (45:47), Marina McCallum (48:19) and John Hutchinson (57:27).

Several Harriers turned out for the Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k which was held on Friday, June 17. This is a two looped course inside the grounds of Pollock Park, starting and finishing at Cartha Queen’s Park RFC.

The first Harrier home was Kevin Farmer with a time of 38:05, followed by Augustine Cairney (43:52), Robert Young 1st MV70 in 45:32, Christine Duncanson 2nd FV55 in 47:28, Marina McCallum (47:29), Hugh Laverty (47.29) and Watson Jones 2nd MV70 in 49:18.

On Saturday, June 18 we saw John Fox compete in the RonHill West Highland Way Race.

In near perfect conditions he ran a spectacular race and finished the 95 mile course 29th overall in a fabulous time of 20:51:39.

On Wednesday, June 29 Clydesdale Harriers had an excellent turnout at the Scottish Veteran Harriers 5k held in Clydebank. First home was Paul McKendry in 19:35, followed by Pamela McCrossan (20:02), Hugh Laverty (20:37), Bobby Young (20:51), Marina McCallum (21:43), John Hanratty (23:15) and Watson Jones (23:27).

Clydesdale Harriers is a friendly club which caters to all levels of abilities, whether you are taking your first steps into athletics or are an experienced competitor. We have qualified coaches who have competed at the highest levels and are more than happy to pass on their knowledge. They and the club members will support and advise you.
