CLYDEBANK goal hero Nicky Little is adamant Bankies’ young squad will have the legs to negotiate a frantic title run in and win promotion.

The midfielder is Bankies’ top scorer this season and has fired two late equalisers in the last three games to salvage draws against Greenock and Kilsyth Rangers.

Those two points keep Budgie McGhie’s side well in the title hunt in the Super League First Division.

With six teams vying for two automatic promotion spot and one play-off spot there will be some nail-biting encounters in coming weeks.

Tonight’s visit of fellow promotion hopefuls Blantyre Victoria will be Clydebank’s ninth in just 19 days.

However Little thinks the hectic schedule benefits Clydebank over other teams as he insists they are one of the fittest sides in the league.

He said: “I think we’ve got enough in the tank.

“We’re a young, fit team and we’re hungry to do well.

“I think we’re fitter than most teams, that’s maybe showed with the number of late goals we’ve scored. We need to play better than we did against Kilsyth and Greenock to make sure we’re not chasing games going into the latter stages.

“I think we’re still in a good position, all of the teams still have to play each other so there’s going to be points dropped, if we do our job we’ll have a right good chance at promotion.

“At this stage of the season it is a battle with games coming thick and fast but hopefully we’ve got enough to get us over the line.”

Little’s also found the net in Bankies’ 5-1 win over Cumbernauld United on Monday, taking his tally to 18 in an impressive first season at the club. However his first concern is the results of the team over any personal accolades.

He added: “It’s good to get goals. I didn’t come in as a striker but I’m playing further forward in midfield quite a bit.

“I’m enjoying it but I’d rather the team won than be happy with a personal goal tally.”

Clydebank face Blantyre Victoria tonight at Holm Park, kick-off 7:15pm.
