Clydebank manager Budgie McGhie insists promotion is not the be all and end all for the Bankies this season.

After dropping out of the Premier League last season the aim was always going to be for a quick return.

However with a big rebuilding job to be done on the squad, McGhie admitted it wasn't a target specifically set by the club, with the building of a new team paramount.

McGhie said: "The club don't actually set goals like that. There is always a hunger for the club to do well.

"But in the summer we knew we had to do a lot of work on the squad, so they didn't say 'you need to get promotion' or anything like that.

"No matter where we finish in the league I'd like to get in and build a team again, sometimes that can take two or three years.

"We have a lot of young guys and a lot of them are doing well for their first season in junior, they might go on and improve further in the second season. Everyone wants to do well but I don't think there is pressure to get straight back up."
