Greenock HSFP 1-2 Drumchapel Amateurs DRUMCHAPEL gained promotion as championship winners by defeating rivals Greenock in a tight affair.

After a promising start, the Drum found themselves a goal down when a defensive mix up let the Greenock striker through to finish.

The second-half was more of the same with Drumchapel having most of the ball, but Greenock looked dangerous on the break.

It took a penalty to even the scores with Bobby White converting after Ryan Hynes had been fouled in the box.

Extra time saw the Drum step it up after Greenock had a man sent off and an own goal saw them move ahead.

The drama wasn't done there and when Greig Burns was adjudged to have used a hand inside the box, it took a superb save from Drum number one Chris Tennent to keep them in front from the resulting penalty.

Drumchapel saw the game out and finished the season as out and out division winners.

Special mention goes to the end of season award winners, keeper Chris Tennent, who was voted players' player of the year, sweeper Stephen O'Hara, who won player of the year and Bobby White, the club's top goalscorer.

Lochgilphead 0-1 Kilpatrick KILPATRICK travelled to Lochgilphead on Sunday for a top of the league clash, knowing if their opponents won, they would have effectively clinched the league.

Kilpatrick started shooting up the slope and worked tirelessly to contain Lochgilphead as the hosts broke away after 25 minutes, only to see their striker denied by McKenna.

Pollock missed Killie's first notable chance, firing wide after latching onto a through ball by McInally.

Lochgilphead continued to press forward and in the 32nd minute McKenna was again called into action in the Killie goal, saving well with his feet to keep his side level.

Kilpatrick then went straight up the park with O'Donohue and Ewing linking well and the latter played Pollock through who cut back across goal to Galt, only to see his effort blocked on the line.

The breakthrough came with minutes to go until the end of the first-half as Ewing forced the ball home from a corner after a series of set pieces.

The second-half was even as both sides battled to net the crucial second of the match and it was the hosts who carved out the first opportunity as they hit the bar from a 25 yard free-kick on the hour mark.

Woken up by the let off, Kilpatrick began to dominate the tie again and almost doubled their lead as O'Donohue fired over from eight yards after good play by Pollock.

O'Donohue went close again as he fired goalwards from distance, only to see his goalbound effort deflected over.

Going into the last 10 minutes, the home side pressed forward, but Killie's defence were working extremely well being marshalled by the outstanding Gallacher.

Lochgilpead managed to beat the Killie defence with five minutes to go, however, McKenna pulled off an outstanding double save to keep the score at 1-0.

Kilpatrick are now a point behind Lochgilpead with a game in hand and four games to go.

Gowdie under-14s 11-1 Clydebank WITH both teams struggling for form and players, Gowdie managed to field just nine players in their starting line-up.

Clydebank were able to field a full starting team and two substitutes and a convincing win seemed more than likely for the Bankies, given the circumstances.

However, the opening exchanges saw both sides have chances and after a clearance by Gowdie keeper Gallacher, the ball fell to a Clydebank midfielder who controlled and fired goalwards from the halfway line, only to see Gallacher retreat and save well.

It was the nine men who broke the deadlock midway through the first-half and then again soon after, and although Clydebank wasted no time in clawing one back, the hosts netted twice again before the break to give themselves a well deserved lead.

The second-half was a no contest as Gowdie hit seven goals without reply in an emphatic victory.

It was a deverved with with the hosts displaying some good passing football, interspersed with some fine attacking by Musa in particular, who scored seven.

Cambuslang FC 2-1 PFD United A SUNSHINE strewn Broadwood was the venue for the first of the Central Region Cup finals as Cambuslang under-13s took on PFD United.

However, there was heartbreak for PFD as Cambuslang's Dylan Wilson grabbed a late winner to secure triumph for the side wearing red and black.

It was United, playing in red and white, who kicked off but possession was quickly squandered and ball fell to Declan Moore who fired a shot which was palmed wide by Owen McBride in the PFD goal.

It was again Moore who was involved shortly after as he blasted a long range free-kick high over the bar as Cambuslang probed early on.

Brave goalkeeping from PFD's McBride was then needed after the impressive Moore, pulling the strings in the centre of the park for Cambuslang, sent through striker Declan McDonald but the keeper was quick to react and dived at the strikers' feet to gather the ball to deny McDonald an open goal.

It was all Cambuslang in the early stages and they had a huge opportunity to open the scoring when a rebounded shot fell to Dylan Wilson just outside the six yard box, but he failed to get a proper connection on the ball and sliced his effort high and wide.

The early pressure eventually paid off for Cambuslang as they opened the scoring.

It was a lovely finish from McDonald, who had been looking lively, to give Cambuslang the lead, as he picked up the ball in the box and took a touch before swivelling and firing the shot under McBride to break the deadlock.

Cambuslang were hungry for more and Zak Moynes tested the keeper with a half volley from the edge of the box which he had to push over the bar for a corner.

The corner was whipped in to the far post to find goal scorer McDonald who volleyed his effort just over the bar.

PFD started to gain a foothold in the match, restricting the amount of chances that their counterparts were creating and forcing them to drop deeper and deeper as the half wore on.

On the stroke of half-time that PFD managed to grab the equaliser through Robert Murray.

The striker ran into the box and despite pressure from the Cambuslang defence, he smashed his effort in off the far post from a tight angle to put his side level, going into half-time.

Despite the first-half ending level it was again Cambuslang who started the second the strongest and just five minutes in they should have retaken the lead.

A scramble in the box followed a corner after goalkeeper McBride failed to gather the ball.

PFD managed to get the ball out the box but it was picked up by Moore who sprayed the ball out to the left where Andrew Lindsay fired the ball right across the face of goal, leaving the goal gaping for McDonald but he somehow headed over from inside the six yard box.

PFD were having a lot of joy breaking down the Cambuslang defence with several long balls catching the defence static, but Cambuslang goalkeeper Marcus Redmond was quick to come out and clear the danger.

Though it almost lead to the downfall of Cambuslang as PFD's goal scorer Murray managed to break through and after shrugging off the challenge of the nearby defender he ran in on goal, however, he put his shot wide.

PFD went close again with Edin Lynch flashing a long range effort just over the bar.

With the game looking like heading towards extra time, there was to be heartbreak for PFD, who despite edging the second-half, were dealt a sucker punch.

It was an impressive passing move though from Cambuslang which culminated in Wilson picking up the ball in the box and slotting by McBride to seal the Central Region Cup.
