I write with regards to last week's story about the pitches at St Peter the Apostle.

Seemingly the lower football park, which was covered in red blaes when the school was St Columba's, is no longer used for safety reasons.

We played many times on the red blaze in the 1960s and never once kicked the ball onto the boulevard.

Noise was drowned out by the noise of traffic and the park was lit by the lights from the road.

The park was then at the same level as the boulevard pavement, but now sits five feet higher.

They were supposed to be adding six feet to the height of the fence, so why don't the football teams use this pitch?
