COUNCIL: Provost Denis Agnew

I read with disgust councillor Martin Rooney’s motion and questions to the council regarding Provost Denis Agnew’s performance as a member of the National Park board.

As Councillor Rooney withdrew the motion before it could be discussed at the full council meeting, thus denying the Provost, and possibly others, the opportunity to speak, it makes me question the motive for putting on record such an accusation.

In order to reassure the public that Councillor Rooney is above reproach, his track record on attendance when on the Park board should also be made public, along with the expenses he received.

Meanwhile, he should make an apology in both the local and national press to his party, to which he has done no favour in using such questionable tactics, especially at a time when they are trying to regain lost ground.

More importantly, he should publish an apology to the Provost for this very personal attack.
